Splash some colours into a dull setting or a boring wall!
Lively colors brighten this talavera piece, making it the essential wall feature.
The art of Talavera pottery has roots that go back at least to medieval Spain. Popular in Europe since the 13th Century, many of the designs associated today with the art originated in Talavera de la Reina, Spain.
In the 16th century Talavera pottery was introduced to Mexico by the Spaniards. Mexico has been a country with a very rich culture and folklore. The combination of the Mexican folklore and the artistic designs from the Spanish Talavera created a unique look for this form of art that has transcended the centuries.
Today the craft is perpetuated by individual families of master craftsmen, still performing the age-old rituals and techniques that have been passed down through the centuries.
A ceramic piece such as this, is a unique handmade product. Not even the artisan can recreate it. Occasionally there may be small "imperfections" such as color inconsistencies, porosity, or asymmetrical brushstrokes. However, this only confirms the originality and authenticity of the piece.
Lovingly Handcrafted in Mexico!
